RECORDS TUMBLE AS SWIMMERS DOMINATE MNC BLOCK CARNIVAL 1 (15/11/08).
The Port Macquarie Swimming Club held the first Mid North Coast District Swimming Carnival on Saturday. All swimmers performed well with many National, State and Country qualifying times achieved as well as an amazing eight District Records. The Club collectively amassed 1,822.5 points during the day with their nearest rival being Sawtell on 885.
Eight year old Jack Daly broke three records, smashing 24 seconds off the previous mark in the 200 IM in a time of 3:07.66, 11 seconds off the 100 Back in a time of 1:32.06 and the 50 Fly in a time of 40.82. With these fantastic results, Jack was also named “Freddo’s Swimmer of the Meat”.
Brooke Hudson (14) was also in the record breaking mood when she set a new time of 2:12.89 in the fourteen year old girls 200 freestyle. Fiona Connell broke her own record in the 16 & over 100 Back in a time of 1:08.22.
Not to be outdone, James Magnussen absolutely flew in the 16 & over 100 Free setting a new record time 51.89 – look out Eamon!
The Girls12 years & under 200 Freestyle relay team of Laura Coleman (12), Emily Denning (12), Laura Cook (12) and Olivia Peck (12) swam a fantastic race breaking the record in a time of 2:07.08.
The Girls 15 years & under 200 Freestyle relay team of Anna MacInnes (15), Brooke Hudson (14), Bronte Ferraro (15) and Bianca O’Malley (13) broke the record by 4 seconds in a time of 1:56.93
Congratulations goes to Ian Carey (14) who has qualified for the National Age Championships for the first time in the 100 Free with a sizzling time of 58 seconds flat.
State Age qualifying times were swum by Brooke Hudson (14) in 200 IM in a time of 2:39.38, Daniel Thompson (15) 100 Back in 1:08.97 and 100 Free in 58.41, Olivia Peck (12) 200 Fly in 2:51.54 and 200 Free in 2:28.27, Mekayla Everingham (11) 100 Free in 1:10.63 and he Girls12 years & under 200 Freestyle relay team of Laura Coleman (12), Emily Denning (12), Laura Cook (12) and Olivia Peck (12) in their record breaking swim.
NSW Country qualifying times were achieved by Samuel Lewis (11) 50 Fly in 38.73 and 100 Free in 1:13.50, Daniel Deicke (12) 200 IM in 2:53.50, Olivia Peck (12) 200 IM in 2:52.18, Anna MacInnes (15) 200 IM in 2:43.25, Brook Bailey (10) 50 Breast in 48.54, , Jed Goggin (15) 50 Fly in 31.19 and 100 Free in 1:00.87, Daniel Thompson (15) 50 Fly in 31.58.
The carnival again ran smoothly thanks to all the hard working volunteers on the day.
